Last year, when the ashes of a burning Hollywood were but a metaphor, three films rose above them to challenge the bloated, scurrilous morass that is Double-Twenties Cinema. All three movies, in their own unique ways, restored my faith in the medium’s future. One uses extensive practical effects, one features CGI characters, and one is fully computer-animated top to bottom, without a single human element visible.

Non Grata
Believe it or not, a good bit of thought goes into my creative output, in particular where exactly in my figurative empire that output fits best. Conscientious Objections
For some unfathomable reason, this website has survived for ten whole years. Were I to hazard a guess as to why, I’d say it’s because no one reads anything I write. I have no clout nor cachet that can be destroyed by “cancelling” me, which, in truth, is something of an advantage.

A Critter’s Life
Until his passing five months ago, I had a hamster named Gomez Houdini. His surname came from his determination in escaping from cardboard boxes, through dutifully chewed-out holes. (That’s what the famous magician did, right? Chewed his way out?)
